You didn't mess with it. You merely replaced the user-replaceable hard
drive. The machine is designed for that.
Take out the hard drive before you send it in, and don't put the original
drive back in. That's what you would want to do even if you were using the
original drive: Strip the machine down before you send it in--no hard drive,
no extra memory, no PCMCIA cards, etc.
