be SURE that you are using the bootable CD..
be sure that the CD is selected first in the boot device order, thus: CD,
Floppy, HDD..

if this does not work, go to the IBM driver site (link on my web site) where
you should find a floppy image for booting for the recovery CD..
i would verify that the diskette image is there but the ibm site is down
right this moment..
