That's not the only choice. A much more convenient approach would be to use
VMware to create a DOS virtual machine and run the program inside that. Then
you don't have to dual-boot--you can stay in Windows 2000, but the DOS
program runs in honest-to-goodness, 100% pure DOS. VMware costs $300 but
it's well worth it. There's a 30 day trial, so you can see if it meets your
needs.

Stuart, I'm sorry I didn't think of this option when we were kicking this
problem around by email a while back.

Of course, the DOS app really shouldn't be crashing Windows 2000 in the
first place, but by the time you finish troubleshooting it, the time you've
spent would probably have paid for VMware, which is just about guaranteed to
work.

Let me know if you try VMware and want any tips or help with it. (I don't
work for them, I just like the product a lot.)
