[This is off topic, but I wanted to tap the wealth of knowledge on this list. Please reply to me directly instead of cluttering the list (not that it's real busy these days).]
I want to buy memory for my desktop system. The Crucial website lists various options for me, including PC100 and PC133, with both CL (CAS) 2 and 3 specified (see http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?model=Select+800&x=4&y=9). Apparently my system (Gateway Select - Athlon 800) is flexible enough to take a variety of memory.
First question: Does CAS2 vs. CAS3 really make a noticable difference, and if so, which is better?
Second question: Where is a good place to buy reasonbly cheap memory? I see very low prices for PC133 256MB parts on pricewatch.com for 'generic' memory from places I've never heard of. I don't necessarily want to buy from a place like that, but I do want a decent deal. Where would you buy memory?
Thanks in advance!
