Trackpoint middle mouse button....

I have a TP A21m and am wondering if it is possible to reassign the
function of the "middle" mouse button to something other than the
scrolling function (which I don't use). I have seen this available in
most of the configuration software for external mice- but not in the
trackpoint software. Is it possible to use an external program to
change the function of the middle button?

The specific functions I'd like to have is
highlight then press middle button to copy (kinda like the way copy
works in the chat program mirc)
open selected html link in new window (this function is not available in
Netscape via a shortcut)
