I called IBM. They are willing to entertain the idea that this is not user
induced damage. According to their records, no T20's have been reported
with this failure before.
Mine is a very early Thinkpad, manufacutured 4/00. The T20 release date
was 5/00.
So, they want me to take the T20 in to a local authorized service center
for evaluation. I made the call, left a message.
My case # 17166535. The very nice person on the phone was Howard Riker @
Thinkpad support.
