Thanks everyone for the quick and helpful replies.

I cannot use the Restore CD because this system uses FAT32.

All is not lost however.

I was able to get the internal modem working under WinME simply by
uninstalling and reinstalling the current driver. The prior owner installed
the wrong driver.
