Thanks Serenella (and Rob),

Yes, the drive should be under warranty (less than 1 year old). It's
another story how I can get it replaced, since I bought it in the US (I'm
based in Finland), but I'll investigate.

Fortunately, HDD prices have come down a lot this year.
