Thanks to anybody who replied so quickly!

To conclude, it looks like the 760er series can only handle drives up to
6.4GB (my machine is equipped with an 6.4GB drive, so I can assert that
it works up to this ;-).

Appearently, it's possible to use bigger drives, but only with a disk
manager software. In fact, I've found that some dealers sell 20GB and
30GB drives for the 760, together with EZ-Drive (e.g. csnap.com).

Since I plan to use the machine with Linux mainly, I guess I will go on
and look on the Linux-specific TP lists, whether Linux is able to cope
with bigger disks.
