I'm going to be attempting to upgrade my TP 390X 2626-FOU from a Celeron 400 to a PIII-500 weekend. Few questions to those that have tried upgrading the CPU in their Thinkpad.
1) The service manual indicates a special tool is needed to remove the MMC-2 from the TP. It looks similar to a screwdriver. I'm wondering what everyone used to remove their CPUs.
2) Any tips/suggestions for all this? I repair computers for a living, and I've opened lots of laptops in the past. I'm comfortable with that part, but I'm a virgin when it comes to laptop cpu upgrades.
Thanks!
