I'm trying to get a Xircom RBEM56G-100 (CardBus Ethernet 10/100 +
Modem 56) running on a Thinkpad 760E.
Currently, Win2000 is installed on the machine. The readme for the most
recent Xircom drivers says that Win2000 already supplies drivers for the
card, and that those have to be installed first.
Problem is, when I insert the card, I get a message "The device 'Texas
Instruments PCI-1130 CardBus Controller' has detected a CardBus card in
its slot, but the firmware of this system is not configured to allow the
CardBus controller to be run in CardBus mode. The operating system will
currently accept only 16-bit (R2) pc-cards on this controller."
The device manager lists two instances of 'Texas Instruments PCI-1130
CardBus Controller', both properly configured.
Also, the Thinkpad configuration utility, under "PC Card Slots", lists
CardBus as "enabled" and using IRQ 9.
Also "PC Card Properties" doesn't found any pc-card device, even if the
RBEM is inserted!
I'm a little bit lost, and a layman when it comes to PC-Cards, so my
main question is: Does the 760E at all support such pc-card devices that
take two slots ?
Next question: How do I get it working, then ? ;-) Is it then a problem
of W2K ? Do I have to change something in the BIOS ??
Thanks for any hint,
Gregor
