Sorry I couldn't shed any light on your question !

In article <20010928111716.A4410_at_53b.hoffleit.de>,

On my 600E, I also have two instances of
'Texas Instruments PCI-1251 CardBus Controller'
in the device manager under Win98. I thought it was an error,
so I removed one, but Win reinstalled it at next bootup.

Earlier I reported that you can make a neat and fast network
between two Firewire card-equipped computers by using Unibrain.
There's a "gotcha" on the 600E with Win98. Once Unibrain is
installed, other network cards won't work. You have to
uninstall Unibrain and then reinstall your older network card
to regain ethernet.

In Unibrain's defence, I should note that they don't claim it
will work on Win98 (they claim Win98SE, Me, 2000 etc). And it
could be the 600E, too. It operates with plain old PCMCIA
cards much less reliably than the old 701C did.
