Good day to all,
I have two machines - one is a 600 that was exhibiting signs of a failing
cmos battery ... odd 173/163 errors.
To pinpoint the problem I removed the cmos battery from the 600e and the 600
behaves well.
On re-installing the cmos battery back into the 600e I find that LPT1 is
playing up. I can't print at all.
Having re-installed the printer driver, checked the port via F1 test I
eventually found that the only solution is to remove LPT1 via Control panel,
and when it re-boots, it reinstalls the port and it works --- until the next
time I switch it off / on.
Incidentally, the port is called 'Epson LPT1' - I occasionally run a
'photoprinter on the back, but generally it's a HP 720c.
Any one any ideas why I should get a problem with LPT1 by unplugging the
cmos battery?
This is really frustrating!
Whilst I'm here - who's got the best idea of how to replace the cmos battery
on a 600/600e - it's covered in a yellow sleeve and looks very expensive!
Regards,
Chris CB.
