Hello,
I would get the HMM pdf file from the IBM site. It gives
good information on taking things apart. Having taken
several Thinkpada apart I can say to work slowly and
carefully. Have a container to keep the little parts.
I bought a TP 365XD with a no video problem. It turned
out to be a video connector coming out of the the main board
socket. In another case it was a connector comming off a
socket on the LCD itself. Sometimes it is a bad LCD.
i doubt you need to remove the hinges. The areas I had
to disassemble to fix my problems were the area above the
keyboard and the bezel around the LCD, i.e. at the ends
of the cabling. The hinges are in the middle 8->.

Subject: TP390E No video.
We have a 390E with a white screen. It works OK with
an external monitor. Do you guys think it's a broken
ribbon cable or something like that? I was going to
take it apart and check the connections on the ends
but can't find anyway to get it apart! I took out all
the screws and the hinges came loose but nothing else
will budge. Help.
