Until the T23 and A30 model era model Thinkpads, all previous P2, Celeron
and P3 Thinkpads used
the Intel Mobile BX chipset. As a result, they are limited to 256mb per
slot, and previous
Thinkpads can not use the 512mb pieces effectively.
The newer Thinkpads use the 815em chipset from Intel, and can address 512mb
per slot
along with taking advantage of the new 133mhz FSB for Thinkpads.
This is why even older models like the 770z and 600x can have 512mb in
them. They use the BX chipset.
