I'm too broke (or cheap) to buy a main battery for my Thinkpad 600E - I'm looking at around $110 for one from IBM, and not much less than that for a used one off eBay. However, I see brand new sealed Ultraslimbay batteries going for around $40 on eBay, which is definitely more affordable for me.
My question is this (for the moment, please ignore the possibility that I might get a dud off eBay or a have a bad experience - thanks, but I know about that already, and I've had a pretty good experience so far =P): If I just have an Ultraslimbay battery in my Thinkpad, will it work by itself? Or does it require a main battery pack? I remember reading a while back that the 600E discharges both simultaneously when both are in...
