Start/Control Panel/System. It will show you either:

Microsoft Windows 98
4.10.1998

or:

Microsoft Windows 98
Second Edition
4.10.2222 A

I think the 600E came with the original Win98.

Personally, I'd get a Linksys DSL router. The $85 pays for itself fairly
quickly in the amount of time you save not having to mess with PPPoE
software.
