I still bet you that it will work under either/both Linux and/or Win2K.
I have both 233 and 266 380XD TPs and like them very much.
The trick is that partition set up and formating must be done
with something much better than Dos tools.
I've set up some desktops with the 8.2 bios limit that
use all of a 40G disk.
Again, W2K and (recent) Linux
Both of these must have at least one (starting) partition below 8.2!!!.
I think both of these pretty much ignore the bios after IPL..
