I am stumped at this installation. I have an external ISDN Terminal
Adapter which looks just like a serial modem and know the proper
setup strings. However I do not have a disk with the INF file.
How can I create a modem object in Modems which will then appear
as an option in Dial-Up Networking so I can create a dialer icon?
I can input the dial string manually if I can find an input window
(as could in Win3.1), but I can't find anywhere to input a string
or series of strings. (In the old days there were first, second and
third initialization strings.)
I have tried to the Add Modem function and Win98 says it is
"looking for a modem" on COM1. In fact Win98 addresses COM1 because
the modem's LED illuminates, but the process stalls without ever
exiting. (In various Win3.1 dialers e.g. from IBM there is a function
to test every comport to discover working setups; does anything
similar exist for Win98?)
Once I get it to work on Win98, I will try for a HD with WinME
installed; how different?
Thanks for all help.
