if no recent changes to OS (this is a very remote possibility, i admit) then
it sure sounds to me like there is a heat related hardware issue beginning
to raise its nasty face..
outcome is not good..
sooner or later it will die..
so if there is remaining warranty, get it in for repair..
if not, start looking for a replacement or a repair facility..
