OT: [Dell Inspiron 5000e] Machine resets on its own

Hi Everyone,

I realize that this message does not relate to ThinkPad's in particular, but
it is a laptop issue just the same.

I have been having a problem with my Dell Inspiron 5000e recently. While
using the computer, it randomly resets itself. The screen goes black for
several seconds, and then I see all of the bios information before windows
restarts.

I have tried troubleshooting this problem in the following ways:

  1.. Did a clean preload of the operating system. (Windows Me)
  2.. Disabled all power management settings.
  3.. Removed all 3rd party external devices

Since the machine had the same problem while I was running in pure DOS, I
have ruled software out as a possible culprit. Which hardware device would
you most likely suspect is causing this problem??
