The news and email program YARN is immune to email viruses.
Unless you consciously detach and then run a program.
I don't know about browsers being immune to viruses. Wouldn't
one's level of exposure depend upon whether one had java,
javascript, active scripting etc turned on? I use Opera. It's
mean and lean, but a fair smattering of sites are not
compatible with it.
I didn't receive any of the viruses mentioned in this thread
because my ISP filters them out. It's not a guarantee, but it
reduces the number that arrive. It's like having one slug in
your garden instead of thousands.
I don't use a virus scanner. I do use Zone Alarm (free
version). YMMV.
Outlook Express is attractive to users because, once set up,
everything is so automatic. And it's free.
