Actually I rarely use a temp controlled unit, that's why I stressed
the short time required. The acid flux makes it bond without heating
the terminal up, do a few with and without and you'll be amazed at the
difference. It actually makes some metals harder to solder to, but a
few types become much more sticky to solder.

Done it many times with a gun instead, it takes time to heat something
up so a short duration makes this fine. Wouldn't suggest it until
you're comfortable doing it with an iron though.
