why, thanks mike.. :-)
uhmm, anyone want to buy a malfunctioning 48gig drive..??
or, in fact, any of about a half dozen miscelanous capacity malfunctioning
drives..??
in fact, i'm reminded of a 320meg drive i sold many years ago, when i was
still on myboat in miami beach..
the guy said it did not work (it was not an IBM drive but if any one is
interested i can dig it out) so i replaced it..
got it back, put in in a thinkpad, it did not work, so i opened the top,
looked in, rigged a cable and fired it up again..
still did not work and except for the blur of the spindle, it was not
possible to be sure it was spinning..
the heads would not load over the surface, so i tool a pencil and moved the
head assembly over the surface of the platters..
and BINGO, the drive started to work..
i cut a clear plastic top for it and on occasion i fire it up and let it
run..
and it still runs.. !

Cordially, :-)
