i wiped clean my a21p and install xp; after that i downloaded
few drivers and the power managment tool:

Fn-F12 works perfectly. XP hibernates and resumes like a champion.

when my laptop moves to battery power, the taskbar icon and
power meter appear as it did when my laptop arrived right from ibm.

as aforementioned, this isn't the most helpful email as i don't
know what you should do to correct it, though it does work
over here on my a21p.
