        Thanks, Toni. I confirmed what you've written above with IBM
support. The battery I tested the unit with was dead. I've been
assured that booting the system with a fresh battery will solve the
problem. On a side-note, this was the first occasion I had to call IBM
support, and I must say I'm impressed.
