i'm going to have to add a few things to this. note though, these all
depend on the isp. the ones you listed, are known for poor grasp of the
technical issues, and poor customer service.

Con - higher latency

this really isn't true. it may be for the isp you had, but there is
nothing about dsl that requires the installation to be slow.

this is true, but i've found unless you spend your days downloading free
software ISO's 24/7, 640/256k dsl is pretty decent. you get about 70
kilobytes per second downloads.

Pro - lower latency. this is gonna matter if you play video games
online. dsl has a faster response time than cable.
