Yeah, I've done this as well, but my 760XD 20x couldn't read the CR-RW as a
CD-R, but can read CD-R's.

|Hello,
|
|I normally write CD-RWs as CD-Rs. You can still totally erase
|a CD-RW and rewrite it. I use CD-R format to store the current
|set of drivers or other downloads. When a new set comes out I
|transfer any still current stuff to the HD, add the new files,
|erase the CD-RW, then reburn it. Using the CD-RW format (UDF)
|requires a driver on an old machine that wants to read it.
|
|I was really pleased to find the 600e 2x DVD rom reads CD-RW
|as well as CD-R.

|
|the problem with older cd roms reading an rw disk is the fact
|they are not
|closed or finalized.. but when you finalize the disk it cant
|be rewritten
