Since this article is from last summer, it probably wouldn't apply to
your brand-new Kingston SO DIMM, but there's no harm in checking in
case you somehow got an older module. There were some 32 Mb modules
for the 760ED that were defective -- some sold by IBM with its own
label and some under other names. Registry errors -- not necessarily
pointing to memory as the culprit -- were some of the symptoms. The
IBM article contains information to identify the bad modules even if
they came from other suppliers. (Question for Bill Morrow and the
other memory experts here: IBM says all the defective ones have labels
that say "SEC KMM466F404AS1-L6 or L6M". Might the three letters "KMM"
stand for the manufacturer, or something like "Kingston Memory
Module"?)

Also, apparently memory can get mapped incorrectly on the 760ED. You
can check for typical incorrect assignments -- and the correct ones --
using http://www.pc.ibm.com/qtechinfo/LWIK-3RVLYG.html.
