Hello:
I would suggest running RedHat 7.2 at this time. When I had a TP600e,
I ran Redhat 6.1. Once you are up and running with the OS, you should
download, compile, and install some additional Linux ThinkPad tools.
apmiser: www.sifry.com/apmiser
APM control
noflushd: noflushd.sourceforge.net
An idle-disk daemon
tpctl: tpctl.sourceforge.net/tpctlhome.htm
General ThinkPad management
tp-scroll: rsim.cs.uiuc.edu/~sachs/tp-scroll
ThinkPad middle mouse scroll button
tp4utils: www-hft.ee.tu-berlin.de/~strauman/tp4utils/
Linux TrackPoint Utilities
Mwave ACP modem: oss.software.ibm.com/acpmodem
Mwave modem driver
I have since upgrade to a T22, but all these applications, with the
exception of the Mwave driver (not needed for my T22) will work to take
advantage of the ThinkPad features when running Linux.
