760ED CD Drive CD-RW Compatiblity

the stock 4x CD that came with the computer can't read CD-RW's, it reads
CD-Rs fine though. Do any of the later faster drives that are compatible with
the 760ED, able to read CD-RW's or does it depend on the media used and
burner?
