I collected this information during the last few days, regarding
batteries for Thinkpad 600E:

12J2462 is battery "marketing" part number
10L2158 is battery "replacement" part number
12P4064 is NEW number for battery "replacement" part number
(according to IBM salesperson @ (800)388-7080

Yesterday I called IBM @ (800)388-7080, who quoted part#12P4064 at
$101, exchange.

Unfortunately, a few days ago, I had already purchased several
batteries over ebay from "li-ion-king", for $109.95 + $11.95
shipping/insurance. These arrived in boxes with labels showing
part#12J2462, recent (5/Mar/2002) manufacture-date codes, plus several
serial numbers, but (to my confusion) none of the serial numbers on
the outside of the box matched the serial number on the battery
inside.

I called "li-ion-king", who said IBM tracks different serial numbers
depending on how the batteries are sold because of warranty duration:
that part#12J2462 receives a 1-year warranty, whereas "the oem
battery" (didn't get a part number) only gets 90 days.

I'm still confused about the difference between a "replacement" part,
and a "oem" part, and what their respective warranties are.
