Help! A recent critical update messed up my explorer properties. I always
operate in View 'Detail' mode and have my files arranged in 'Modify' date
order. Recently, after some update, they reverted to displaying the file
list in alphabetic order only. I have to click 'modify' tab every time I
reopen the window.
1) In the search for an answer I created a User list (just me - there wasn't
one previously) and got a 'Profile' folder for my trouble. I now want to
remove this facility but Bill won't let me as it is 'in use'.
2) In the course of this, all my e-mail passwords were screwed!? And Outlook
Express was added to my quicklaunch taskbar (I use outlook). I deleted OE
from the quicklaunch and the Outlook, Desktop and IE icons disappeared too!
3) In the course of trying to restore these 3, the Quicklaunch bit went too.
Now when I try to restore Quicklaunch, it won't let me! - red cross and
'Can't create Toolbar' message.
4) 'Help' is wonderfully useless of course. I suspect I have some registry
editing to do, but need guidance.
Briefly I need to:
a) Remove all traces of individual 'Users' and their associated Profile
files/folders.
b) Restore Quicklaunch to my Taskbar with IE, Outlook and Desktop shortcut
icons.
c) If at all possible, force my displayed file lists into date order (as
they used to be) - just PROPERLY remembering their last settings.
TIA
Dave
