Well I got my T23 yesterday... first, a warning to cross "Marine Park"
off of your shopper list... they had a great price on the 26478MU, but
when I opened the box all of the seals were broken and the machine was
clearly a return... three bad pixels and a screen which was unbelievably
poor for an IBM product (wavy with light and dark spots all over)...
this machine does buzz and whine annoyingly despite BIOS and embedded
controller updates... the build quality is acceptable, but the keyboard
is definitely a big step down from the 600x (why change something that
is an industry standard? Ah yes, it must have cost more to build)... I
do like how much easier XP is as far as setting up dsl and having it
sleep and wake properly... W2000 and S98 with the poet PPPoe software is
a nightmare, and XP is a huge improvement there...

The funny thing is that I don't notice any speed difference when
compared with my 600x (this is the 1.13ghz pIII versus a 500mhz) and the
disk seems slower and MUCH louder than the 30gn I have in my 600x...

Overall I still prefer the 600x, which I think I will try XP on... this
one is going back and "Marine Park" is being reported to the better
business bureau
