The "fix" is to turn off the power management... do a search on google
news and you will find a lot of info about it... people had various
ideas about it, but it seems to be related to the speed step application
and how it interacts with XP and W2K...
Don't you think that putting a "designed for XP" sticker on the computer
should mean that the designers and engineers have actually turned a
computer on and see if it actually does indeed function with the
software advertised?

Subject: T21 High pitched noise
I've noticed a faint but detectable high pitched noise coming from my
T21.
The noise only occurs when I use certain applications, so far I have
noticed
it when using MGI Videowave III and Access Thinkpad. The noise ceases
when
the mouse or trackpoint are moved or when there is hard disk activity.
Anyone else noticed this?
Thanks
Colin
