higher pixel counts are intended (usually) to increase the screen
realestate..
rather like a larger desktop upon which large documents like blueprints can
be viewed in their entirety..

characters on a display are usually a fixed cell size, like 12 x 8 or the
like..
in windows, one can increase this to larger character cells and thus reduce
the overall desktop size..
the catch is that some applications don't use the windows character cell
size for their display of text..

your mileage will vary and some people just can not deal with such fine
resolution..
thats why the standard display seems to be 1024x768 rather than 1600x1200 or
1400x1050 etc.

some video chipsets can change resolution and retain most of the sharpness
of their native resolution..
the A3Xp seems to do this very well, BUT the result is NOT as sharp as
native resolution..

better take a look at one in the flesh before making the jusm..

one customer who got an early delivery of the A21p was so disappointed with
the resolution she sold the computer..

if you use glasses for reading you will need them for a computer display..
