ebay has its good points..
and many many many caveat emptor's..
most noticeably anyone with little or no feedback selling a new and
unobtainable thinkpad (and all other similarly situated items) with payument
first and in cash or cash equivalent..

news groups are probably much better for most stuff as you are dealing with
a person and not a screen name..
i mean, who wants to buy something from a person with a screen name like
"scruu14521"..?

i would say that, for me, ebay has produced a few diamonds and many piles of
crap in a brown paper bag..

i think a newsgroup would be a place to search first, then ebay as a last
resort..

OH, preparing a list of crooks and bad guys has been done..
there WAS a web site with such names..
but who can be sure the complainer has a valid complaint, AND who can be
sure the bad guy will not change his name..?!
