Have you checked that your new hard drive is in the same group. We had this
problem when the work group on one of our computers was not labeled
properly.

sorry for the off-topic post: I just got a new larger drive for my
thinkpad, and installed windows2000 on it (old drive also had w2k). now
computer can't find the other computers in my workgroup - "net view" is
empty and "dir \\othername" gets an error message. networking clearly
works, and I can ping the other computer.
I'm probably missing some simple configuration?
