Thanks everyone, for responding about 755/760 drives in a 600.
Here's my situation. I've been wanting to replace my old 755cd
for some time. I've been unable to to do so, but I was just given
about _half_ of a Thinkpad 600. A relative's workplace just upgraded
all of their workers to newer models, and he was given a box of old
parts to do with as he pleased.
So I have the bottom section of the case, the
motherboard/processor/etc. AC Adapter, keyboard...
I need a screen, drives(and plastic pieces to cover drive bay), a cover
for the memory area, and the speakers, and upper case.
Yikes! a lot isn't it? Ideally I'm looking for an old 600 with
say, no added RAM, a dead motherboard, and broken keyboard, to
scrounge these parts from. Does anyone have one like this they'd like
to get rid of?
As I already have a couple of 755 drives lying around, I inquired
about using one of them just to get things going. I've an extra 755
floppy that alas, I hoped I'd finally have a use for here.
This 600 does work. With an external monitor, it will boot into
Easy Setup for me, or ask me for a disk.
So, does anyone have any advice?(other than not bothering with
such an old machine) Pointers towards well priced parts? burnt out
systems?
Oh! Before I forget, this is a Thinkpad 600(X I think)
     TYPE 2645-A1U
IBM's support site tells me this is a "base configuration" and
precious little else.
