I upgraded from a base 300Mhz 600 to a 750Mhx T21 about six months ago and
was amazed by the step down in build quality. The T21 keyboard is in my
opinion MUCH inferior the 600, it flexes at certain points and the keys
don't have the same travel. The case on the T21 torques at the area around
the pc card buttons when the case is opened, the unit also lifts on the
right hand side when opened. The TV-out socket on my unit was VERY loose
with a lot of travel when a cable is inserted.
There is an issue with the case cracking which has been covered in this
forum before as well as the IBM discussion forum. All in all much poorer
build quality, thank goodness for the 3 year warranty.

Subject: 600 keyboard vs T2x keyboard?

This may have been discussed in recent months when I was away from the list,
but I hope no one will mind if I bring up the question now.

Does anyone have strong views on whether the 600 keyboard is better or worse
than the T2x keyboards? The general view seems to be that the 600 keyboard
was the best of all, but someone who knows Thinkpads very, very well told me
recently that he prefers the T20 keyboard. I know I can't get the classic
IBM full-size keyboard feel on a laptop, but does anyone have a sense of
which of the TP keyboards comes closest to the classic IBM feel?

Many thanks for any suggestions.
