Hi James,
Thanks for the explanation - you were right: there's no mini-modem card in
my 600X, but the cable does seem to be there - at least there's a cable with
a tiny connector feeding into the modem bay. And a fellow-subscriber to the
list has kindly offered to let me try his spare mini-modem, so I'll see how
it works out.
My only question now is about removing that port cover. It doesn't seem to
be mentioned in the hardware maintaince handbook, and I don't want to do
anything irreversible. The cover has a tiny hole in it, presumably for a
removal tool. But if anyone has any specific advice on removing and possibly
replacing that cover, I'd be grateful for all details.
