dry knocking indicates HDD is having trouble finding sectors...
leaving it off for a while, then having all work normally, indicates some
heat related issue..
which MIGHT be with the HDD..
did you try to get into the bios setup..??
if it would go there, then THAT tends to indicate a problem with OTHER than
the main system board..
of course it might also be software related, except for the dry knocking..
hope this dry analysis helps a bit.. :-)

Subject: A22p Startup failure -AAaargh
Has anyone experienced this:
After "Restart", the tp tries to start up but fails after a few seconds.
When pressing I/O again, the same thing happens. I stopped retrying and
after about 60 mins. The computer started normally. The startup failure
was accompanied by a dry knocking sound from the left rear end. I have
to admit, my tp is being used on the road and has taken a few slides of
the passenger seat ;-).
Unfortunately this happened to me in front of an audience of 39. Very
unpleasant...
Any ideas??
TP A22p
