It has been my experience that #5 is the most likely outcome with #7
following close.

third party adapters are available, but are universal types, thus not as
good as the original..

ibm does not make these, but buys them from others under huge contracts..

if you slam yours against a cement floor it will probably rearrange the guts
(i.e. tiny coils and capacitors, etc) of this switching power supply and
yeild one or more of the following results:

1. stop the oscillating..
2. break the plastic case..
3. intenisify the oscillations..
4. add TO the oscillations..
5 completely destroy the entire ac adapter..
6. make an ac adapter shaped divot in a poor quality cement floor..
7. relieve you of some frustrations and replace these with NEW
frustrations..

:-)

they are under warranty if you choose not to try the "slamming" fix..

which variety is it..
the 19VDC or the 16VDC version..?
