Because then, they'd have to do more inside the ThinkPad to supply
the lighting system for the display.
:Putting the effort in the power supply, outside, makes the most sense
when you consider that different countries use different voltages. I
know--I'd like an inheirent 12v system too, as then I could feed the
TP from a marine deep-cycle battery.
