Why not just use the whole drive?
I have set up several Thinkpads that have the lower bios limiits
using drives larger than 10GB.
The trick is to set up the partitions using a recent Linux Fdisk.
I think that the root partition for each OS probably must be
under the bios limit but Linux, WIN98SE, Win2K don't seem to
have any problems fully using extra partitions above the bios limit.
Recent Linux distros, WIN98SE, and Win2K are just the ones that
I've used.
Win eXtra Pain may also work but I won't even come close to that
until $soft changes the EULA and if that is never then that is fine with me.
If you try this please remember that the very last partition must be a fat16
type
or strange things may happen.
