<<FYI, I provide contract support for a large ad agency
where we have both Powerbooks and Thinkpads... The
Thinkpads (esp. 600e/x series +) provide a better
dollar value for processor power/memory and overall
expansion capacity compared to the Powerbooks (or
iBook, etc.). The "lombard" and "bronze" series comes
closet to matching the Thinkpad in feature/quality
comparison.
I don't know how many times I've swapped out Li-ion
batteries, or the cd/dvd/2nd hard disk while at Kinko's
or a trade show and watched as a nearby iBook/Powerbook
user goes "Wha... how'd you do that? That's pretty
neat!".
Mind you, this is only my humble opinion after
supporting about 1000 users in multiple offices.
It also helps to run Win 2k pro (or Linux) on the
Thinkpad! And there's a neat Mac emulator available
(www.emulators.com).>>
First of all i want to respond to the message about Windows XP's
antialiasing. You care more about eye candy than usability? Thats really very
stupid. You sound like microsoft is paying you $50,000 a month for you to
endorse their products by any means necessary.
In reponse to this guys message:
Why not trying to compare recent notebooks? Also, comparing Windows 98 on a
ThinkPad 600 compared to OS 9 on a PowerBook is kind of wierd. I mean,
windows 98 is jst horrible compared to Windows 2000 XP or Macos 8.5 to X.
Next, how do you know those PowerBook users arent newbies. I mean when i got
my 720c and my 755CX i learned so many new things. Any of those user and i
doubt they have, have never seen or heard of a 2nd HDD. Im sure that there
are plenty of advanced PowerBook users that have 2nd HDDs. Just as plenty of
x86 based notebook users have them.
And I response to michael geary:
If you had no idea that was the maximum resolution, i doubt you are running
at its maximum resolution. On any LCD if it isnt being run at its maximum
resolution it has to use either Bicubic or Bi/Tri-Linnear resizing distorting
any text or image. Also you are still basing this on eye candy anyway.
