I think you're referring to IBM's 75GXP and 60GXP series of desktop hard
drives? Supposedly they had an abnormally high rate of failure... you would
hear the "knocking of death" and within days the hard drive would be out of
commission. I haven't had any problems with my own 60GXP however...
*crossing fingers* ... nor with the dozen or so 60GXP and 120GXP drives
I've installed for friends and family. YMMV.
