Download the Drive Fitness Test
http://www.storage.ibm.com/hardsoft/diskdrdl/technolo/dft/dft.htm
or new URL (11/01) may be:
http://www.storage.ibm.com/hdd/support/download.htm
Create floppy (must be done in Win98)Do cold boot with resulting
floppy in FDD. Select ATA only. Select Advanced Test.
This sometimes fixes problems but anyway it will give you a
diagnostic you can give to IBM (if still under warranty) (or use
yourself).
