Thanks for your reply, James !
I will put my comments between your lines below:

That's right - I am in the same opinion like you.
That's also the reason why there is normaly lots electronic inside a LiIon-Battery, too -
beside the cells - for controlling the charge / charge-state. (also at the Thinpad
Batteries)

That's an interesting information !
So either the uController on the Battery or the BIOS of the Thinkpad has some differences
on the A22p than at the TP600 concerning charging algorithm.

I've got two batteries in the past which passed away - one was inside the TP while
connected to the Mains power (and which should not be a problem of a well designed charging
circuitry) and at the second one which I purchased after the "death" of the first one I
always disconnected the Mains power so I charged and discharged it completly.

Generally, more than 500 charge/recharge cycles should be no problem working like this but
my 2nd one also died after about 50 cycles...which was about 4 months after purchasing.

In my opinion, that's definetly to short - knowing that the DELL-Laptop I am using at work
day by day is also connected often to Mains while fully charged and has never had a problem
like this.

Have you followed up the IBM-Discussion forum at the IBM-Thinkpad Page concerning
the sudden death of lots of TP600-Batteries which were complained by users in the past
months ?

I suppose one reason for this that some batteries are dying after a very short time of
usage or some others after 2 years is that probably different kind of qualities of the
cells were used...

My batteries here are:
12P4064 and 10L2158 and the Thinkpad is a TP600E-2646-4A0 with latest BIOS-Version.

A spare battery from IBM costs 180.- EURO which is quite a lot of money if you can use it
just for 50 cycles.....

thanks for your information and comments, James !

best regards,

Oliver
