This matches my experience exactly. However... At one point I *did* have my
TP600 2645-51U running 100% reliably with 416Mb (425,408Kb) memory. I used a
256Mb PC100 stick in one socket and a 128Mb PC66 in the other. The
combination only worked with the memory in a specific order, I forget which
one was where, but it ran Windows XP with no problems at all. And I know I
was accessing all the memory heavily in XP, because I used the system in
this configuration to install a dozen virtual machines under VMware.
